15th - Oxhill Aero-tow ----- CANCELLED -----

I an extremely disappointed to announce we are cancelling the Oxhill event planned for the 15th August.

The field had drainage pipes fitted in the spring, leaving small slots in the ground. Since then the weather has been exceptionally dry, and caused the small slots to open up significantly, to the point that even walking on the field while flying could be hazardous, never mind landing scale aircraft across deep 2” to 6” wide slots running down the hill about 10ft apart.

Three alternative fields were offered, one with power cables running across one side, another too near dwellings (one with stables adjacent to the field), and another on yet to be cut crop. These might be suitable for a very small group to use with great care, but sadly none are suited to a significant event with large scale aircraft.

The farmer has been extremely supportive throughout regarding our use of the field and offering alternatives..

Many thanks to all those who have helped and encouraged us in setting up a new event, it has not failed due to lack of help and support, merely been postponed until the ground is ready once again.

21/22nd - Leek in Staffordshire

Scale glider fly for fun on the slopes above Leek in Staffordshire .
Hosted by the Leek & Mooorland Gliding Association.

We have excellent slopes & landing areas for large scale sailplanes.Do come along & join us for some convivial flying and fun social day out on the slopes.
We are within walking distance of the Mermaid Pub, which is adjacent to our main slope site.

Electric assisted gliders with tractor prop drive arrangements are allowed if there is little wind. No noisy pusher motors I am afraid.

Meeting at 10.00 at the Mermaid pool as seen on the Pub web site which is our south westerly flying site.
